New Construction

Mercury Bay Pools Ltd provides quality new concrete swimming pool construction services to the Mercury Bay and Coromandel Peninsula area.
We can also provide you with a free quote to refurbish that tired looking, leaky pool and bring it back to as good as new with perhaps, new tiles and copings or a total re-plaster of the interior. There is a choice of colours available. I use industry leading "Skypebble®" and "Hydrazzo®" pool finishes.

The Process of building the pool once planning and consent is sorted.

Excavation, Boxing and Steel reinforcing

Marking out and setting up profiles takes time and is very important. We cant have the pool built in the wrong place or finish height, it has to be as per the approved plans. Once excavation has been completed, Plywood shutters are the erected and the reinforcing steel placed.

ShotCrete Application

A term well known in the concrete pool business. Probably 90% of all concrete pools are built using this method. Concrete is pumped from the Truck to the pool via a 100mm line. Compressed air is introduced at the nozzle end and the concrete literally shoots out of the nozzle to form the pool. The skill of the nozzleman is not to be under rated.

Once the concrete shell starts to take shape the so called “Cutters” follow the nozzle man and turn the lumpy shape of the concrete into the finished shell ready for the next stage, tiles and copings.

Tiles and copings

Choice of waterline tiles and pool top copings is up to the owner. These are then applied/fixed to the pool.

Pool Finishes

Several options are available, Marble plaster (can be colour tinted), Hydrazzo which comes premixed in different colour choices or Pebble finish which also comes in different shade choices.

Filtration and plumbing

Mixed in with all the construction listed above the plumbing lines for the filtration system will have been run to the filter room location. They include suction lines for the bottom drain, Skimmer/s and heat if required. Also lines for the treated water to return to the pool. And lets not forget lighting and the electrical supply.
